about

During the time of year when winter clings on, refusing to let spring in, we journeyed down to Tynron, Dumfries & Galloway on a quest. With the expert guidance of David Donaldson, we set up a bespoke studio in a secluded country house. For the next 10 days, we explored under the watchful (and extremely knowledgable) Greg Lawson, cultivating and crafting a sound-world between traditional and classical. We improvised, experimented with timbre, and captured sounds from the surrounding landscape; and - after lots of tea (and wine), hearty meals and good conversation - we recorded this album. The captured and improvised sounds were manipulated post-production by David Donaldson and worked back into our tunes, linking them all together and weaving between the compositions to create an album that reflects both our individuality and our cohesion. The entire process, and our thoughts on the project, were recorded and crated into a documentary by filmmaker extraordinaire Paul Jennings.

We hope you are able to sit and listen to the album as it was intended: from start to finish, no gaps. It was a joy to make and it represents where we are now, with direction and purpose for the future.
